Description
  • GROW YOUR OWN COPPER DEPOSIT || This hands on, exciting kit allows learners to simulate the formation conditions of native copper deposits in an attempt to grow their own
  • ENGAGING ACTIVITY || Learners will explore the value of copper metal as a natural resource, and understand the specific environment that is conductive to the formation of native copper so they are able to create their own
  • EXCELLENT FOR REMOTE LEARNING || Great for Distance Learning and home schooling - kit includes instruction manual, worksheets and enough materials for 4 groups of students. Makes an exciting home science project for kids!
  • MATERIALS INCLUDED || Kit includes everything needed to conduct the experiment (aside from distilled water) - copper sulfate, sodium chloride, iron nails, plastic vials, filter paper discs and hand magnifiers

Of all the naturally occurring metals copper is one of the most useful and versatile. Evidence suggests copper has been used by humans for at least 10,000 years. Copper is used for architecture, wiring, plumbing fixtures, automobiles, motors, generators, turbines and a variety of electronic devices.
While copper is typically extracted from copper-containing mineral ores that must be treated and refined to obtain the pure metal, it also exists in its native elemental form. This is the rarest and most valuable form, as it is the easiest to process. With this kit, learners will create specific environment conditions and examine the formation of native copper deposits over several days.

Great for distance learning and home schooling - kit includes Teacher's (or Parent's) Instruction Manual, safety data sheets, student guide and worksheet copymasters.

Kit Includes:

  • 75g Copper Sulfate
  • 75g Sodium Chloride
  • 10 Iron Nails
  • 5 Plastic Vials
  • 20 Filter Paper Discs, 25mm
  • 5 Hand Magnifiers
  • Teacher (or Parent's) Manual
  • Student Study & Analysis Guide
  • Safety Data Sheets
