Innovating Science chemical battery chemistry kit is used to construct a wet cell battery, which when completed generates 1.5V for 20 to 30 minutes for demonstration purposes. In addition, several cells can be connected in a series to increase voltage or in parallel to increase current for further study. The kit includes an instructions and material safety data sheet (MSDS) packet for product information and handling procedures, and contains the following items and substances: copper sulfate, sodium sulfate, magnesium metal strips, copper metal strips, dialysis tubing, hydrochloric acid, light bulb and wire assembly, and jar and lid. Magnesium is a light, moderately hard metallic element that burns in a bright white flame in powder or ribbon form; copper is both ductile and malleable, conducts heat and electricity well, is resistant to corrosion, and tarnishes easily to form a protective layer of brownish-black copper oxide coating. The magnesium metal strips measure 6.0" (L), and the copper metal strips measure 3/4 x 5 inches (L x W). (L is length, the horizontal distance from left to right; W is width, the horizontal distance from front to back.) The kit is suitable for age 13 and older with adult supervision, and meets the requirements for Department of Transportation (DOT) small quantity exemption 173.4, and conforms to 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 173.4 for domestic highway or rail transport only. What's in the Box? (1) copper (II) sulfate, 0.5M solution (100.0mL) (1) sodium sulfate, 0.5M solution (200.0 mL) (2) magnesium metal strips, 6.0" (L) UN1869 (2) copper metal strips, 3/4 x 5 inches (L x W) Dialysis tubing (1) hydrochloric acid, 3.0% solution (25.0ml) UN1789 (1) each light bulb and wire assembly (1) each empty jar and lid Instructions and safety data sheet (SDS) packet
