Innovating Science enzymes and digestion process kit is used to study the digestive system, and the role enzymes have in releasing nutrients from food, and converting them into a form that is usable by the body. The kit has activities to expose three nutrients--carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids--to different digestive enzymes for comparison, and then contrast the samples to nutrients with no enzymes by testing to determine effectiveness in digesting the compounds. For hands-on learning, the kit has materials for 15 groups of students, including pancreatin bile salts, albumin egg powder, starch, pepsin, amylase bacteriological powder, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, biuret test, phenolphthalein, dilute Logol's solution, olive oil, and pipettes. The kit has a teacher's manual and student study guide copymasters for instructional use, and a safety data sheet (SDS) packet for product information and handling procedures. The kit is suitable for age 13 and older with adult supervision, and meets the requirements for Department of Transportation (DOT) small quantity exemption 173.4, and conforms to 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 173.4 for domestic highway or rail transport only.
