Description
  • EXPLORE THE BASIS OF MODERN GENETICS || This activity is designed to allow learners to explore and simulate Mendel's work and determine the patterns of inheritance
  • ENGAGING DEMONSTRATION ||Using special chips and Innovating Science’s exclusive Double Dice, learners will be able to simulate both monohybrid and dihybrid crosses, and then determine the genotypic and phenotypic ratios for select traits and compare their values to the theoretical “ideal” values as put forth by Mendel
  • CROSS CUTTING CONCEPTS || In addition to examining genetics, learners will also develop skills in constructing explanations and designing solutions, as well as analyzing and interpreting data
  • EXCELLENT FOR REMOTE LEARNING || Great for distance learning and home schooling - kit includes instruction manual, worksheets and enough materials for 5 groups of students
  • INCLUDES ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS || Includes both male and female Monohybrid chips, male and female Dihybrid double dice and shaker cups

Gregor Mendel began observing and analyzing various traits of pea plants in the 1800s, and his studies would eventually become the foundation for the basis of modern genetics. In this activity, students can simulate Mendel's work and determine patterns of inheritance. Using special chips and Innovating Science's exclusive double dice, students will be able to simulate both monohybrid and dihybrid crosses. Students will then be able determine genotypic and phenotypic ratios for select traits and compare their values to the theoretical ideal values, as put forth by Mendel.

Great for distance learning and home schooling - kit includes safety data sheets, instruction manual, worksheets and enough materials for 5 groups of students.

Kit Includes:

  • 5 Monohybrid Chips, Female (red/yellow)
  • 5 Monohybrid Chips, Male (red/white)
  • 5 Dihybrid Double Dice, Female (colored)
  • 5 Dihybrid Double Dice, Male (clear)
  • 5 Plastic Shaker Cups

Innovating Science Small Group Learning kits are designed to offer engaging activities and educational content to for teachers to use with small groups or to distribute to remote students, or for parents with learners at home. Kits incorporate applied math and science principles into home school and distance learning projects.
